Eliminating barriers to inclusive vocational skilling opportunities among Persons with Special Needs (PSNs) in Rhino Camp refugee settlement

UNAPD in partnership with International Aid Services Uganda are implementing a project aimed eliminating barriers to Inclusive vocational skilling opportunities among Persons with Special Needs (PSNs) in Rhino Camp refugee settlement. The goal of the six months project is to contribute to improved lives, promote social and economic inclusion of vulnerable refugees, and host communities in Rhino camp settlement. The project outcome is to have a better understanding of the social and economic barriers to the inclusion of PWDs in livelihood engagement and increased awareness on human rights among PWDs to enhance their advocacy capacity.

The project’s specific objectives are a) to identify service delivery gaps and barriers to social economic inclusion of Person with Special Needs/ PWDs in Rhino camp refugee camp by 2021 b)identify protection risks and vulnerabilities that limit PSN from participating in vocational training and livelihood enterprises by 2021 and c) to strengthen government and local structures in advocacy for inclusive service delivery and livelihood among PSNs and their caregivers in Rhino camp by 2021.This intervention targets both refugees and nationals as a means of controlling conflict in accordance with the Settlement Transformative Agenda (STA) strategy of 70% refugees and 30% host communities targeted by the response.
