UNAPD is proud to be associated with the following partners who support the organisation’s projects and activities:
Disabled Peoples Organisations Denmark (DPOD) – https://www.handicap.dk – is a national umbrella organisation with 32 national member organisations representing more than 320.000 people with disabilities in Denmark. DPOD is the only Danish umbrella organisation in the disability field. The principal objective of DPOD is to take care of the common interests of the member organisations.
Dansk Handicap Forbund (DHF) – is a national organisation of People with Physical Disabilities in Denmark. UNAPD’s first collaboration with DHF started in 2004 when they supported the organisation’s first General Assembly. They supported a two-year Local Branches Empowerment Project that culminated into the Capacity Building and Accessibility Project (2008-2010), Wings Project (2008-2009). DHF are also co-sponsors of the Membership Empowerment Project (2011-2013) together with the Danish Brain Injury Association (DBIA) and the Disabled Peoples Organization Denmark (DSOD).
The Danish Brain Injury Association (DBIA) – is a private, independent organisation working for people with brain injuries and their families in Denmark. They supported the Uganda Brain Injury Project (2006-2007), a pilot project, which led to another two-year project, Uganda Brain Injury Support Project (2008-2009), and Labour Market Project (2009-2010). DBIA is also a co-sponsor of the Membership Empowerment Project (2011-2013).
Danish Sports Organisation for the Disabled (DSOD) – https://www.sportanddev.org
This is an organisation that unites all sports for all kind of people with disability in Denmark.
Action on Disability and Development (ADD) – has graciously worked with UNAPD since inception in 1998, supporting mainly some administrative costs of the organisation. ADD supports organisations of persons with disability in Africa and Asia to influence policy and practice to end social exclusion and poverty.
Ministry of Health – Disability Section provided support towards the National Conference on Physical Disabilities in 2003.
World Health Organisation (WHO) – collaborated with UNAPD in the second phase of the Polio Surveillance Project in 2002, which was carried out in five districts from the four regions of Uganda. The role UNAPD in this project was to train and sensitise People with Physical Disabilities about polio.
The National Union of Disabled Persons of Uganda (NUDIPU) – is an indigenous umbrella NGO of Persons with Disabilities (PWDs). It brings together all categories of disabilities including the physical disability, blind, deaf and mentally impaired people. Being an umbrella organisation, UNAPD works closely with NUDIPU which supports some of UNAPD’s projects and activities.
The Disability Rights Fund (DRF) – is a collaboration between donors and the disability community to advance the new UN Convention on the Rights of Persons with Disabilities (CRPD). DRF is also a grant-making fund of the Tides Foundation, which partners with donors to increase and organize resources for positive social change.
