Following the launch of the Accessibility Standards in 2010, the State Minister in Charge of Disability and Elderly Affairs, Hon. Sulaiman Madada, commissioned the nine-man National Accessibility Audit Team (NAAT).
The mandate of the team is to assess public buildings and facilities for accessibility at national level and offer free advisory services to the developers.
UNAPD is also establishing District Accessibility Audit Teams (DAAT) in the 40 districts where we have membership and these are mandated to do the NAAT work but at the district level.
NAAT comprises nine members who represent Disabled Peoples Oraganisations and key government ministries. Apoll Mukasa (UNAPD), Deborah Iyute (deaf), Ronald Luyima (blind), Angella Balaba (spinal Injuries), Musana Joel (Little People), Esther Kyozira (NUDIPU), Steven Muhumuza (COMBRA), Rose Bongole (Ministry of Health), Sam Masiga (Ministry of Gender).
